"When people ask me, as an archaeologist who works beneath the sea, if I've ever found treasure, I answer, not beneath the waves, but yes, in one exceptional virtual assistant."

And I'm standing by right now...

Hello, I'm Kathy Smith, and I'm extremely passionate and enthusiastic about maritime archaeology, deep-sea diving, marine technology, ship navigation, shipping, lighthouses, well, you name, it, I'm giddy about pretty much everything maritime.

With over 20 years onsite office experience, 11 years as a virtual assistant (offsite secretary), and 19 years writing experience I can help with tasks such as:

  • email and voice mail management
  • travel coordination
  • speaking coordination
  • newsletter/ezine coordination
  • website maintenance
  • social media assistance
  • project management
  • expedition coordination
  • writing/editing assistance (books, articles, website copy, bios, media kits, press releases, blog posts, tweets, etc.) View my portfolio here. Also see my writing page here.

I can assist both individuals working in the maritime field as well as maritime-related organizations. I am known to be caring, honest, trustworthy, diligent, pro-active, respectful, capable, and resourceful. And my cheery sense of humor is always sprinkled in for good measure!

My latest accomplishments...

I wrote a 1400-word article/sidebar for Shipping Network, the official publication of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers based in London, U.K. (June, 2010)

Keeping Pirates Firmly on the Radar
Kathy Smith finds out that regional drops in hijacking are no indication of a worldwide improvement (see pgs 12-13)

I copy-edited the manuscript of this book, ensured it met with the publisher's specific criteria for manuscript format and copy requirements, and helped keep the project on deadline. Nuclear Dawn: The Atomic Bomb from the Manhattan Project to the Cold War (released Fall 2009)

"The review and editing of my assistant, Kathy Smith, once again made the task of writing easier. I owe her my usual debt of gratitude."

James P. Delgado, PhD, Maritime Archaeologist President, Institute of Nautical Archaeology
Host of the television series, The Sea Hunters

Imagine having an assistant who's as passionate about what you do as you are.

The possibilities are endless!
